November 10th:The work ”Buddha and the Four Devas” will be shown for the first time in 7 years!

The work “Buddha and the Four Devas” completed in 2016, is a set of five pieces, each of which is exhibited in five Nichiren sect temples in Kyoto.

On the previous day, November 9th , five pieces were collected from four temples-Honnnoji, Ritsuhonnji, Myorenji, and Myokenji-and brought to Myokakuji, the exhibition venue. The master carpenter Ryo-chan and his son set them up in the Myokakuji Soshido Hall, fitting them to the uneven floor.

The only chances to see it for the first time in seven years were on the afternoon of the 9th and the morning of the 10th

On the 9th, many people took this opportunity to come and see it, and were very encouraging.

The next day, November 10th, a group of 17 overseas Chinese on a tour arrived. President Ma and his wife introduced Shiozawa and began explaining about “Buddha and the Four Devas”.

When he used black light to demonstrate the spilling of stars from the white hair on Buddha’s forehead into a vast galaxy across the background sky, the audience erupted in cheers of amazement.

In the lively Q&A session with the audience, they discovered the magnificent cosmic mechanism of the Lotus Sutra hidden in the huge painting and asked good questions.

The main hall of the venue was incandescent, and the networking event lasted more than two hours.

Even after the explanation was over, everyone continued to approach the works, observing them and taking photographs, showing their high level of intellectual curiosity.

Even after leaving the venue, Shiozawa responded to requests for two-shot photos.

It was a great honor to have the lecture Buddha and the Four Devas  take part in the tour of the 2000-year historical exchange between Japan and China. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to President Ma, and his wife Cho, and coordinator Kondo-san.
