Using the world’s thinnest silk thread—half the thickness of a human hair—and skillfully employing 800 thread colors, Nishijin Art Weaving employs a special technique to transform paintings into textile works. These pieces were expressed through a new surface texture distinct from the original artwork and showcased in a stunning exhibition of 32 works.

Among Nishijin textiles, the techniques unique to Tomiya Textiles represent a challenge to create new value distinct from traditional Nishijin kimono and obi fabrics.

The thread colors were subtly altered from the original artwork, sometimes shimmering with light depending on the angle, resulting in a luxurious finish that creates an entirely new piece distinct from the original.

The exhibition was a splendid match between Shiozawa’s mystical Japanese painting style and the skillful techniques of Japan’s traditional culture.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude once again to the many customers who visited our exhibition.
