The exhibition “Journey of Mystical Exploration,” featuring Nishijin textiles based on Fumio Shiozawa’s sacred paintings, will open on January 8, 2026, at the Kyoto Museum of Culture’s 5th-floor exhibition hall.

For example, the work “Cosmic Dragon” uses 3,000 strands of the world’s thinnest silk thread and 260 colors of colored thread. The unique texture woven by the silk threads expresses a beauty entirely distinct from the original artwork, showcasing breathtaking craftsmanship.
Original artwork is also on display, offering a rare opportunity to view the “Forest of Buddha’s Enlightenment,” which will be enshrined at the Mahabodhi Temple in India, for the last time before its departure from Japan on January 12th.

The Nishijin-ori pieces come in four sizes, including special sizes. A total of 32 pieces will be featured as Nishijin-ori.
The 12 Zodiac Signs series is also Nishijin-ori.

Kyoto Museum of Culture: January 8 to January 12.
On January 11th, a talk event with popular YouTuber Saara will also be held at the Kyoto Museum of Culture.
Osaka RIHGA Royal Gallery: January 20 to 25.
After that, it will move to Kobe,
scheduled for March 17 to 22 at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art Oji Branch, Harada no Mori Gallery.
