Kyoto Miyagawa-cho Kaburenjo Grand Opening Performance(Kokeraotoshi)

On November 1st, we headed to the Miyagawa-cho Kaburenjo in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district, having been invited by Mr. Tokio, who has long been kind to us.

This Kaburenjo theater has been renovated and rebuilt, and today marks the opening performance of the Mitsuwaza Theater.

Today, geiko Yuriha-san and Ruchizu-san will greet us in beautiful kimono and guide us. Walking while gazing at Kyoto’s hanamachi. How beautiful the old streets of Kyoto are.

Customers are flocking to the newly built Kaburenjo theater. Without a special connection, one would never have the chance to come to such a place.

The hall is decorated with magnificent peonies.

The greetings between geisha are graceful and beautiful.

Kyoto’s culture is preserved through generous donations.

Photography is prohibited inside the venue, but the overwhelming sight of shamisen and taiko performers lining both sides is breathtaking. One after another, numerous dancers take the stage, and the performances change with magnificent colors.

After the performance ends, we walk once more through the nighttime alleys of the red-light district.

After passing through the beautiful nighttime alleyways, we were guided to a sushi restaurant in Miyagawa-cho.

We thoroughly enjoyed a course meal that allowed us to experience the wonderful seasons of Kyoto.

After that, we enjoyed pleasant conversation at a ochya-ya, and for our third establishment, we relaxed on the terrace of a bar with a splendid view of Kyoto Tower, chatting about various things. It was a day fully immersed in Kyoto’s hanamachi, cuisine, and culture. Mr. Tokioka, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
