On the temple grounds is an authentic Noh theater, where today’s talk show between these two unique individuals took place.
One of the lecturers was Professor Nobuhiro Suzuki, a professor of agricultural economics who also appears on television as a commentator. He has spoken through various media about how bountiful Japan’s agricultural products used to be and the current crisis they are facing.
The other is Soichi Hiroto, a chiropractor and nutritionist who analyzes the structure of the body through the movements of Japanese martial arts. He has a track record of helping famous professional athletes and traditional performers improve their physical condition.
Professor Suzuki advocated that “what Japan needs now is agriculture, not weapons,” and presented numerical data from every angle to sharply criticize the nonsensical postwar policies of the Japanese government.
Hiroto spoke about “self-management through diet and the rationality and beauty of traditional Japanese manners,” and explained how the subtle movements we do every day can hold clues to staying healthy.
I felt that Japanese people should be aware of the dangers of imported products sold in supermarkets and convenience stores. I also felt that in order to save Japanese agriculture, I wanted to start by making reforms within my reach.
