The celebration was held at the Westin Miyako Hotel on October 19th.
The legacy of Komaruya Sumii’s fans in Kyoto dates back over 1000 years and is said to have begun when the Sumii family, who were members of the nobility, received orders from the emperor.
The entrance is densely decorated with celebratory flowers, and a row of maiko and geisha are lined up in front of the gold folding screen at the entrance to the venue, creating an even more magnificent and luxurious atmosphere and giving the impression of the start of a Kyoto-style celebration.
A total of about 400 guests from various fields, including politics, Buddhism, Shinto, fashion, and medicine, came to celebrate.
The ceremonious drumming of Noh drummer Shonosuke Okura reverberated through the air, anointing the room with a mysterious power.
It is a high frequency sound that far exceeds the range of human hearing, born from the refined spirituality of Japanese. One of the many wonders to be found in Japan, it has the power to calm the mind.
Afterwards, Kansai philharmonic cellist Mukai appeared on stage and performed in a superb duet, collaborating with Okura. The cello masterfully captured the high frequency sound of the drum and cut in with exquisite timing and precision to intertwine with it. Both were magnificent.
After the congratulatory speeches, a distinguished group of people took to the stage to open the sake barrels.
There was also a large screen with video messages, and celebrities were sending friendly congratulatory messages one after another. This also showed that President Sumii has a large network of high-profile people.
As the meal and conversation began and the venue began to liven up, opera singers, pianists, violinists, dancers, and others appeared one after another and performed wonderful music and performances.
The celebration was filled with not only delicious food but also wonderful artistic performances. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to President Sumii for inviting us.
