We received an invitation to a retrospective exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Twin Dragon painter Junsaku Koizumi, so we headed to Kennninji Temple.
Kenninji Temple is a great spot with lots to see, including the famous wind and thunder-god screen paintings by famous artist Tarawaya Soutatsu.
The dry landscape garden depicts beautiful ocean waves in every direction, and just looking at it helps to ease the relentless summer heat.
When we see gardens that capture the fundamental forms of the universe, we are immediately reminded of the deep connection that the Japanese share with nature.
The view of the garden from the corridor is also truly beautiful.
The lotus sliding door painting by Junsaku Koizumi, donated to Todaiji Temple, is overwhelmingly large.
The twin dragons on the ceiling were also magnificent.
