Today, October 12th, We went to see the performance of Shamisen Jack‘s group “The Shamisenists” at a live house about a 5-minute walk from Yasaka Shrine.

We’ve never seen a trio with two shamisen and drums before.

t’s a genre-defying, borderless performance like metal rock played on shamisen.

Some audience members get wildly intoxicated by the music and dance… By the end, the entire crowd is swept up in a whirlwind of dance.

After leaving the live house, we headed to this year’s Awata Shrine Festival.

The night procession had already ended, and the mikoshi bearers were taking commemorative photos.

This festival, where the miraculous power of gods and Buddhas can be felt, preserves the deep faith of the Japanese people to this day.

However, no izakayas or restaurants in the shopping district were open this late. Only one Korean home-style restaurant made an exception and let us in after hours, making it our final stop for the night.
