Honpoji Temple is a historic temple where Honami Koetsu and Hasegawa Tohaku were worshippers.
It also had connections with Sen no Rikyu, and can be found just past the street lined with tea ceremony utensil shops and where the Urasenke school’s mansion is located.
There is a shrine on the temple grounds, beautiful and beloved by artists of the past as a holy place of prayer and a symbol of peace and harmony where Buddhism and Shintoism coexist.
We remembered holding an exhibition here seven years ago, and was reminded once again that it was an amazing place. The chief priest was in good health, and updated us on his recent activities.
