広島の山寺で500年前の龍図に出会う

Encountered a 500-year-old dragon at a Temple nestled in the mountains in Hiroshima.

広島三次市の山奥深くにある西光禅寺を訪ねました。その日はそぼ降る雨の日となりました。
I visited Saikozenji Temple deep in the mountains of Miyoshi City, Hiroshima. It was a drizzly day.

寺に着くなり一幅の御軸がお出迎え、その絵は500年前に描かれた雪舟さんの一角龍図でした。
速描きでありながら雲間からの光が丁寧に描かれており、日本本来のもてなしの姿勢に強い感動を覚えました。
As soon as we arrived at the temple, a hanging scroll greeted us. The picture was a one-horned dragon drawn by Sesshu 500 years ago. Although it is a quick drawing, the light from between the clouds is very delicate, and I was impressed by age old traditional Japanese hospitality.

折しも前日に私自身の龍図の企画草案を仕上げて旅に出ましたので、出がけの雨もまた妙、本当に龍の存在を肌で感じました。とにかく、これも人のご縁、初転法輪の旅の途中、大宇宙の時間をとらえる事が出来ました。
Coincidentally, it was just yesterday that I decided to undertake a journey and embark on a new project to create a dragon themed piece, so when I saw the painting, it spoke to me and its voice resonated in my bones. I remember thinking that day that the rain was enveloping and nourishing the dragon as if ordained by the gods.
It’s only because of human connections that we can experience such things.　I myself was on a pilgrimage trip, and I feel like I was able to grasp the time of the universe.
