スジャータ村とガジュマルの木

Sujata Village and Banyan Tree.

寺院を出た私達は午後にスジャータ村を訪れました。
After the presentation, we left the temple and visited Sujata Village.

スジャータの家があったとされる場所に4世紀頃にストゥ―パ（仏塔）が建てられましたが、後にイスラム勢力により破壊され土で埋められ、近年それが掘り起こされ整備されました。インドが辿って来た歴史の変遷と信仰の闇を感じます。
A stupa, or relic tower / meditation hall was built around the 4th century on the site where Sujata’s house was said to have been, but  it was later destroyed by Islamic forces and buried in soil, and in recent years it has been dug up and maintained.　We could feel the change of history that India has followed and the darkness of religious conflict.

スジャータ村の近くに大きなガジュマルの木があり、そこも釈迦が瞑想した場所と言われています。
There is a large banyan tree near Sujata village, which is also said to be the place where Buddha meditated.

その近くで大きな音楽が聞こえてきて、行ってみると、多くの子供達が音楽に合わせて踊って無邪気に私達を誘ってきます。しばらくの間楽しく彼らと踊りを楽しみました。
We heard loud music nearby, and when we went there, many youths were dancing to the music and invited us to join them. We enjoyed dancing with them happily for a while.
